Dennis appoints head of emerging platforms ahead of mobile push

Dennis Publishing has appointed its first head of emerging platforms to implement a new digital strategy as the publisher looks to put mobile at the core of its global expansion.

 

Ross Burridge, formerly the editor of Dennis Publishing website iGizmo, will standardise the publisher’s global mobile strategy.

 

Barry Cronin, Dennis Publishing’s international digital publishing director, said: “Our aim is to have a global digital strategy that makes our digital brands, such as Know Your Mobile, available on as many mobile devices as possible.”

 

The appointment comes as Dennis’ digital brand Know Your Mobile approaches a total of 1m users a month in the UK and 300,000 in the US.

 

Dennis launched a US version of the mobile specialist site – called Know Your Cell – in December following the launch of an Indian version of the site.

 

Burridge’s first task will be to examine how to implement a global mobile strategy in markets where usage habits are diverse.

 

“We plan to establish Know Your Mobile and our other digital properties as global brands, but user habits in the UK are not the same as those in India, which could be entirely different from those in Mexico, for instance. Barry will look at how we optimise our brands for mobile,” Burridge added.
