Record-number to attend DIS in Berlin

This means that at least 559 (and counting in the run up to the start) delegates will be at this year’s DIS; for what is a premium event aimed at top executives in magazine media and related industries. The speakers are international, and so are the delegates: at least 32 countries will be represented in 2015.

They include delegates from continental Europe and the UK, as well as delegates from countries such as Canada, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Africa, the UAE and the USA on the list. The delegate list includes CEOs and managing directors, other C-suite staff, digital and innovation managers, commercial and editorial managers and more.

Chris Llewellyn, president and CEO of FIPP, said: “It’s hard to imagine now that the first DIS was little more than a glorified seminar held in a church hall in Hanover. In a short space of time it has become an ’avoid all other appointments’ date to put in the diary. It has built a fine reputation by creating programmes with the topics of the moment and bringing international class speakers who are at the leading edge of change. It has been extremely satisfying for me to see how the event has developed, but even more thrilling to see how it has helped the industry on its digital journey.”

The 2015 record attendance performance bares testament to the ongoing innovation within the event itself, now in its eighth year.

With the speaker programme at the centre – the event provides a platform for the sharing of ideas, insights and lessons – the DIS has evolved over the years to include a much more experiential feel, too.

Aside from innovators on the service side in the expo theatre, there are opportunities to try out new devices and experience new things, from a variety of wearables through to Google House.

The full DIS in fact starts two days before the main event, with the Mediahackday @ DIS on the Saturday and Sunday, and add-on tours of startups in Berlin on the Sunday and afternoon of Day 2 of the Summit.

Not to forget plenty of networking opportunity, starting with opening drinks the Sunday night before the main event starts, continuing with networking breaks during the Summit and through to networking drinks at the venue at the close of Day 1 and at the DIS Late later in the evening.

Beyond this, another brand extension saw the launch of a DI Tour in 2014, visiting startups and other innovative companies in the US. This year’s tour is from 19-24 April to New York and Boston (for which only 3 tickets remain – more at innovators-summit.com).

To all those who will be at the DIS in Berlin this year, we look forward to welcoming you there – the easiest way to find us will be at the FIPP stand in the expo area.
