The Economist appoints Zanny Minton Beddoes as editor

 Minton Beddoes is currently The Economist’s business affairs editor succeeds John Micklethwait, who has been editor for the past nine years. She previously served as economics editor and joined the company in 1994 after spending two years as an economist at the International Monetary Fund.

The appointment becomes effective on 2 February.
