Buzzwords of 2015

How can a year of magazine marketing be summed up in one single chart? Statista, the statistics portal, created an infographic that visualises six marketing trends of 2015 by showing how often the terms have been searched for worldwide on Google.

The term “clickbait” peaks in May 2015 when it was added to the Merriam Webster Dictionary. It takes off again in autumn, together with “brand awareness”, which had been searched for most of all six terms in the beginning of this year.

“Paywall” and “engagement rate” are the steady midfield throughout the year, while “content curation” and “ad fraud” are the terms least searched for throughout the year.
