Owen Meredith appointed new CEO at PPA

PPA has announced the appointment of Owen Meredith as Chief Executive, with immediate effect.

Meredith is currently Managing Director at the PPA and has been acting CEO since May 2020.

Meredith said: “I am thrilled to be taking on this role as such a critical time for our industry. The ongoing global pandemic is having a dramatic impact and has accelerated change across our sector, as it has in many industries. The way people discover, consume, and engage with media is shifting unlike anything we have seen before.

“In a crowded, time-poor world, consumers and professionals are hungry for trusted sources of news, information, and entertainment and PPA membership represents the very flagship of trust.

“My objective is to ensure the PPA supports our members through these times of rapid change, so they can make the most of every opportunity to maximise revenue and minimise risk as their business models evolve.”

The PPA Independent Publishers Conference 2020 will be online this year, with a full day of content and lots of opportunities to engage with the rest of the community, check out the agenda here. The virtual conference takes place on 26 November and you can get tickets here (Early Bird ends 31 October!).

PPA Chairman, and Immediate Media Co CEO, Tom Bureau, commented: “I am delighted to appoint Owen as CEO of PPA. The board was unanimous that this is the right choice. Owen brings a compelling mix of publishing sector experience, strong leadership and management skills, deep industry relationships as well as being well connected with government. I’m looking forward to working with him on the vital next stage of promoting our industry”.
