FIPP and UPM renew Strategic Partnership
FIPP is delighted to announce the renewal of its long-standing Strategic Partnership with UPM Communication Papers, the world’s leading producer of graphic papers.
The partnership will see FIPP and UPM continue to work together to highlight the important role high-quality paper – produced in a sustainable way – plays in the media and other industries.
UPM is also part of a special group of FIPP World Media Congress Centenary Partners who will explore the trends and technology reshaping the media landscape at this year’s event in Madrid from 21-23 October where FIPP will celebrate its 100-year anniversary.
Announcing this renewal of the Strategic Partnership with UPM, Alastair Lewis, FIPP CEO, said: “UPM have been members and key partners of FIPP for 25 consecutive years this year, and we are absolutely delighted to confirm a new Strategic Partnership for this, FIPP’s Centenary Year.
“UPM’s Strategic Partnership gives them a place on the FIPP Board, it puts them front and centre of all FIPP activity and it will see UPM have a strong presence at FIPP World Media Congress in October as well as sponsor our now annual FIPP Insider event in New York in December.

“Magazines, and print, still play a crucial role in many of our members businesses – from some of the very biggest names in global media through to the smaller independent and local publishers in our community. Having UPM on our Board, working closely with Kati Murto, Vice President, Brand, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability at UPM Communication Papers, and the team we strive to ensure that whilst digital opportunities are often front of mind in today’s world, there are still innovations, developments and growth in print, and choosing the best, most sustainable paper can make a huge difference, both to the quality of the product and the strength of the bottom line.
“UPM are innovators and leaders in their field and are synonymous with quality, sustainability and innovation. We believe that is a great match for FIPP, and we are honoured and incredibly grateful to call them partners and to work together in this Centenary Year.”
Kati Murto congratulated FIPP on its Centenary Year and said UPM was delighted to be a Strategic Partner, collaboratively supporting the future of magazine media.

“This aligns with our long-term commitment to being a strong partner to the global media industry, a role we have upheld for decades. Together, we can shape the future of magazine media,” she said.
“At UPM, we believe that paper remains a sustainable medium of trust, impact, learning and inspiration. Today, it continues to play a vital role in media alongside digitalisation, offering a unique, tangible experience that complements the fast-paced, ever-evolving digital world. It remains a trusted, sustainable medium for long-form journalism, high-quality print publications, and materials that encourage learning, reflection and creativity. Print publications, such as magazines, continue to be a powerful tool for storytelling, influence and inspiration.
“The role of sustainability in paper is more important than ever as the world seeks to reduce environmental impact while maintaining meaningful communication channels. As a circular, renewable resource, paper – when sourced and manufactured responsibly – is one of the most sustainable materials available. At UPM, we have integrated sustainability practices into our paper production, including reducing carbon emissions, sourcing wood from sustainably managed forests, minimising waste and using renewable energy.”
