UPDAY gets new Editor-in-Chief

The news-based app UPDAY, which was the result of a collaboration between Axel Springer SE and Samsung Electronics, now has an Editor-in chief.

Michal Wodzinski who was previously Editor-in-Chief of UPDAY Poland, is assuming the newly-created role and will take overall responsibility for UPDAY’s journalistic products and services. 

According to the company Michal will represent the news service’s journalistic perspective, contribute to the development of UPDAY’s products, and coordinate and communicate between the teams of UPDAY’s editorial hubs. 

UPDAY is currently live in eight countries; France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the UK. 

Michal will also helm UPDAY’s planned expansion into the US.

The company has announced it will test the market from mid-February to mid-April and focus on New York State. The top news stream will be curated by a team of six editors and will focus both on general news and local news from the region. The test will be limited to iOS.
