2. Longform

To learn how to write and produce better stories.

This weekly podcast is produced by longform.org and is sponsored by the Writing program at the University of Pittsburgh. It features conversations with non-fiction writers about how they got into the profession, the secrets of creating the best content, every-day-problems reporters and editors run into, and bigger issues such as freedom of speech, diversity, reporting from war zones, and others. It is an encyclopedia of life as a media professional.  

3. Re/code Decode

To explore all things digital (that includes media).

Hosted by Kara Swisher, a prominent journalist, who interviews people from the tech world, media, politics and more. This podcast is among the finalists for the 2016 WEBBY awards, and rightly so. Episodes usually last less than an hour, but being an exceptionally talented interviewer, Swisher manages to pack a lot of conversation and information into each episode.  

4. The Economist: The week ahead

To get ready for the week in under 15 minutes.

From the Editorial team of The Economist, they look at the most important events of the upcoming week, and give analysis of what these events may bring. 

5. FP’s The Editor’s Roundtable (E.R.)

To know how American political elites think.

Tim Ferris is the best selling author of “The Four-Hour Workweek. Some episodes last as long as four hours, and some are as quick as 20 minutes. Guests include entrepreneurs, scientists, pro-athletes, and actors. In each episode you will find plenty of tips on productivity, creativity, heathy living, smart travel, and workouts. One four-hour episode, a conversation with Cal Fussman, is particularly useful, not only because Tim Ferris is a talented interviewer, but also because Cal Fussman himself is one of the best interviewers in the world.

10. The Joe Rogan Experience

Joe Rogan’s show is consistently among top-20 podcasts on Apple’s iTunes Store, and his website claims that the podcast sees more than 11 million monthly downloads. It is produced by Joe Rogan, a popular stand up comedian and UFC’s commentator. His guests include pro athletes, mixed martial artists, musicians, actors, writers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and restaurateurs.
