Stephanie Mahon announced as new Gardens Illustrated Editor

Immediate Media Co has announced that Stephanie Mahon has been appointed as Editor for Gardens Illustrated.

First published in 1993, the garden magazine provides inspiration, innovation and insights, with a varied offering of remarkable gardens, must-have plants and expert advice, as well as championing emerging trends in the world of horticulture.

Mahon previously edited The English Garden magazine and was Editor of the Garden Design Journal for the past six years. She is a two-time winner of the Journalist of the Year Award from the Garden Media Guild and has written for many publications on gardens and plants, including The Telegraph, Homes & Gardens, Country Living and The Garden. Her book Wild Gardens is being published by Pavilion in spring 2022, along with two new titles for DK on Bulbs and Herbs.

Mahon succeeds Lucy Bellamy, who has successfully led the Gardens Illustrated editorial direction since 2017. Mahon is in post from 8 November.

Mahon said: “Gardens Illustrated is synonymous with beautiful gardens, innovative design and advice and insights from the top designers and plantspeople in the world. It is tremendously exciting to be joining such a talented, dedicated team and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to lead on and evolve this influential brand. I can’t wait to get started.”

Marie Davies, Managing Director, IM Specialist, added: “I am delighted to welcome Stephanie to the Gardens Illustrated team. Stephanie comes with a wealth of Garden design and journalistic knowledge and will take the editor helm in November.  It’s an exciting time for the brand as it looks to expand its international audience through our much loved, respected and industry leading print brand, as well as through our engaged and growing digital platforms.  I know the next stage of our journey will be in safe and trusted leadership.”
