Comunidad de Madrid partners with the FIPP World Media Congress 2026

Global media leaders will return to Madrid this October for three days of ideas, innovation and international collaboration.

Frankfurt, Paris and Madrid, 2 September 2026 – FIPP has announced the Comunidad de Madrid as a sponsor of the FIPP World Media Congress 2026, strengthening the event’s ties with the Madrid region as the international media community returns to Spain from 13 to 15 October.

With organisational support from ARI, the Spanish Magazine Publishers’ Association, the Congress is expected to bring more than 500 industry leaders from over 40 countries to Madrid. More than 50 speakers will share ideas and perspectives on the forces shaping the future of international media.

Madrid already has a thriving publishing, media and creative sector, while its international connections make it a natural meeting point for delegates from around the world. During their stay, Congress attendees will also have the opportunity to discover Madrid and the wider region—from the energy of the capital to destinations such as Aranjuez and San Lorenzo de El Escorial, two of the Comunidad de Madrid’s five UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

This year’s programme will bring together leaders from some of the world’s most influential media organisations, including Jessica Sibley, CEO, TIME; Cyndi Stivers, Director of Curation at TED; Erika Heilman, Group Publisher and Senior Vice President at Harvard Business Review; Daisy Donald, Propositions Lead – Economist Pro at The Economist Group; Pooja Bagga, Group Chief Information Officer at The Guardian; and Jonathan Roberts, Chief Innovation Officer at People Inc.

Spanish media will also have a prominent presence on the Congress stages. Speakers include Andrés Rodríguez, Founder and President of SpainMedia and President of ARI; Laura Múgica Codina, Managing Director and member of the Board of Directors at Unidad Editorial; Enric Pastor, Founder and Editor of MANERA Ediciones; Yolanda Ausín, Managing Director of ARI; and Àlex Poderoso, Digital Director at RBA Revistas.

Sessions will address some of the major issues currently facing the industry, from artificial intelligence, technology and organisational change to subscriptions, trust, audience relationships, revenue diversification and the future of relations between publishers, platforms and policymakers.

Andrés Rodríguez, President of ARI and Founder and President of SpainMedia, said: “We are delighted to have the support of the Comunidad de Madrid as the FIPP Congress returns to the city. Last year’s event showed us that Madrid and the wider region provide an exceptional setting in which to bring together the international media community.”

Alastair Lewis, Executive Director of FIPP: Consumer & Special Interest Media, WAN-IFRA, said: “Madrid offers an extraordinary combination of media, culture, creativity and history, and we look forward to welcoming colleagues from around the world back to the city this year.”

The FIPP World Media Congress 2026 will take place at the Hotel RIU Plaza España in Madrid from 13 to 15 October.
