ES Magazine unveils new look and identity as part of relaunch by Editor Ben Cobb
ES Magazine, the Evening Standard’s weekly lifestyle and culture magazine first launched in 1987, has unveiled a new spirit, vision and look, both in print and online, under the leadership of new editor Ben Cobb. The new version of ES Magazine aims to bring Londoners a new logo, vibrant voices, bold imagery and inspiring insights into life as a Londoner.
The newly launched magazine has a bolder and sophisticated aesthetic with more white space, as well as a new logo and masthead with a font aligned with the main Evening Standard brand. In addition, the revamped digital edition is relocating to join the rest of the Standard’s quality journalism on standard.co.uk and will feature a mixture of visual stories and longer form editorial articles.
As well as a new look, the magazine has unveiled a raft of new sections, including:
- Bubble Rap a weekly feature by new voice, Londoner and fashion blogger Susie Lau;
- Need to Know offering a weekly digest of the who-what-where-and-when of everything;
- A reboot of My London; and
- A reintroduction of the Editor’s Letter as a regular feature.
A host of new inspiring image-makers and writers are joining the team bringing with them a unique point of view. These include photographers Quil Lemons, Tim Walker, Indigo Lewin; stylists Katie Grand and Harry Lambert; and writers Tim Blanks, Susie Lau (aka Susie Bubble) and Willy Ndatira (aka @williamcult). Read by 614,000 Londoners every week and with a total digital lifestyle audience of 1.5m, ES Magazine sets the London life and style agenda by delivering the capital’s best features and interviews, from politics to pop culture, fashion to food, and to bring alive the city’s vast swell of creative talent. To celebrate and showcase the new ES Magazine, it is working with London Fashion Week as the event’s official media partner in February. In addition, the Magazine has unveiled a series of special editorial features for the coming months including:
- Valentine’s Issue – Friday 11 February 2022
- Fashion Special launched during London Fashion Week –Friday 18 February 2022

Cobb commenced his role as Editor in October 2021, marking a new era for the publication. A renowned fashion journalist and tastemaker, Ben spent over a decade at British fashion magazine Another Man, in roles including Editor-in-Chief, before joining influential style publication LOVE as Co-Editor-In-Chief in early 2020.
