Registration open for webinar looking at collective licensing for publishers
FIPP is joining forces with the Press Database and Licensing Network (PDLN) for a joint webinar this September looking at the pros and cons of collective licensing for publishers.
The online event will take place on 19 September at 15.00 CET / 14.00 BST / 9.00 EST and will feature a line-up of top speakers who are experts in the licensing field.
- Alice Ting, VP Content Partnerships, Licensing and Distribution at DMG Media
- Paul Gerbino, President, Creative Licensing International
- Matt Aspinall, Head of Commercial Services, NLA Media Access
- Andrew Hughes, Secretary General, PDLN
“The world of collective licensing, and decisions around how best to approach this in the face of AI platforms can be complicated and confusing for publishers who are more used to focusing on their direct audiences,” said FIPP CEO Alastair Lewis.
“At FIPP we want to demystify this, give more clarity as to the options open to publishers and keep our members abreast of the changes in legislation and approach from media monitoring agencies, collective licensing operations and more. We are delighted to be working alongside PDLN and FIBEP to promote more open dialogue between all parties and protection of our member’s IP and revenues.”
Andrew Hughes, Secretary General of PDLN, added: “PDLN promotes and supports publisher rights and licensing, in both collective and direct forms.
“We feel it is important that publishers come together when powerful interests of major platforms and new AI companies threaten their rights, and where fragmented smaller markets like media monitoring need regulation to protect publishers and users. We look forward to debating the boundaries of collective and individual approaches.”
