WAN-IFRA appoints Olga Britto to help strengthen presence in Spain and Latin America

WAN-IFRA – the World Association of News Publishers – has appointed Olga Britto, as its Director for Spain and Latin America. Britto joins the organisation with 25yrs+ experience in marketing and advertising, and will be supported by Raquel González, who has been appointed Deputy Director.

Prior to joining WAN-IFRA, Britto launched the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) in Colombia, serving as Managing Director for 15 years. During her tenure, IAB’s membership grew significantly, becoming a leading player in the country’s online advertising space. It also increased markedly in the LATAM region, with its portfolio of conferences, training and benchmarking projects.

She was also General Director for Effie Awards Colombia, globally recognised as the pre-eminent awards for marketing communications, and has previously worked for companies like Bank Davivienda, McCann-Erickson, El Espectador and the Colombian Association of Advertisers (ANDA).

“It is a real privilege to be working for WAN-IFRA and be given the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way to an industry I’ve spent 25 years in,” Britto said. “I’m truly humbled by the confidence and trust that WAN-IFRA’s management has placed in me in leading the Spain and Latin America´s team, and will do my best to repay that trust. I look forward to working with industry partners and members of WAN-IFRA to meet the challenges of our rapidly evolving news industry during this digital era.“

Vincent Peyrègne, CEO of WAN-IFRA, added: “I am delighted to have Olga Britto join the team. Her experience and knowledge of the media, advertising, platforms and agencies industry will be a great asset as WAN-IFRA continues to enlarge our portfolio of products and services in Spain and Latin America. In addition, Olga’s leadership will provide further momentum to our efforts to support the industry’s transformation into sustainable businesses.”

In her new role, the exec will reinforce the current array of services that WAN-IFRA offers, and launch new initiatives to support the growing regional membership.

Deputy Director Raquel González will focus on delivering memorable and lasting experiences for attendees at region-wide WAN-IFRA events. She has already played a significant role there, supporting and helping to coordinate events like Digital Media LATAM and other WAN-IFRA events, and brings a stong track record of developing and delivering successful projects and iconic events, such as the Edinburgh Film Festival, Tour of Britain and Beltane Fire Festival before she joined WAN-IFRA.

The appointments come ahead of WAN-IFRA’s World News Media Congress, which takes place in Zaragoza, Spain, from 28-30 September, and you can find out more about here.
