WELT appoints Anette Dowideit as International Coordinator for Investigation
Anette Dowideit (43) will be coordinating the international exchange of WELT on investigative journalism projects from 1 February, Axel Springer has announced today. She will also oversee the Cover Story department at WELT’s Sunday edition WELT AM SONNTAG. These new responsibilities come on top of her existing position as head of Investigation and Reportage at WELT, which she has filled since 2020.
Dowideit graduated from Cologne’s School of Political and Business Journalism and studied Economics at Cologne University. She has been at WELT since 2004 in various roles, including USA correspondent in New York, and Business Reporter in Frankfurt.
Ulf Poschardt, Editor-in-Chief of WELT Group and management spokesperson for WeltN24 GmbH commented: “Anette Dowideit is a fantastic reporter with a keen sense for critical reporting. And thanks to her international experience, she is exactly the right person to grow our cooperation with Axel Springer’s international media.”
Anette Dowideit said: “I am very much looking forward to my new responsibilities, especially the exchange with my international colleagues from POLITICO, POLITICO Europe and INSIDER. We are living in politically and socially turbulent times where critical journalism that closely explores and questions matters of interest is more important than ever before. It’s a great honour for me to have been entrusted with the job of coordinating this work.”
