What?

FIPP Insider events are FREE half-day programmes designed to facilitate knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities within and between national media markets around the world.

Where?

This April, we will meet you in the City of a Hundred Spires – Prague – one of Europe’s most beautiful and historical destinations. Prague has a rich history and a dynamic media landscape and in recent years has seen a rise in independent and alternative media outlets, known for their innovative approaches and fresh perspectives.

Anna Bassi | Editorial Director – The Week Junior; Future plc

Anna is an award-winning editor with over 25 years of experience in creating magazines for children. As launch editor of The Week Junior, she and her team have changed the face of children’s media, feeding their young audience’s appetite for information, inspiring a love of reading and learning, and proving that print isn’t dead after all.


Monika Szeroczyńska-Nesta | Chief Product Officer – Burda International CZ

Monika manages the product portfolio of more than 20 lifestyle and special interest media brands, including the love brands MARIANNE, ELLE and APETIT. With more than 15 years of both international and local media experience, she has been instrumental in transforming traditional magazines into cross-platform media brands. Monika’s primary focus is on delivering high-quality content to end customers through various platforms. She sees her role as a guardian of the values of the brands she represents, their relevance, and their cohesiveness through the ecosystem. Thanks to her specialization in women’s media, she has successfully developed the “world” of MARIANNE and ELLE, which are the most diverse brands in their category on the Czech market. 


Joachim Dvořák: RAKETA magazine, a firework of creativity

CEO, founder, publisher, and editor. The Publishing house LABYRINT, which he founded 30 years ago, focuses on good quality fiction, comic books, and books about art. He also publishes books for children and teenagers under the name Raketa. RAKETA is also a magazine of the same name intended for small children. It has been issued regularly since 2014 in thematic issues with original graphic design, and it doesn’t contain any advertising. He also works as a senior editor for the magazine MAGNUS, whose main mission is the refinement of the idea of “noblesse oblige”. He regularly does radio interviews on Czech Radio (Český rozhlas).


Kateřina Borovanská is CEO of FREYA, a consulting services company focusing on B2B business in the marcom segment a client-agency service, and CEO of Fiat Lux Art, a data and analytics company.  10 years ago, she founded the Fénix Content Marketing Competition, the largest content marketing award in the country. She co-owned Men in the Czech Republic magazine and published several client print titles. 

Her presentation will offer a cross-section of the best corporate publications produced in the Czech Republic over the last decade and will present case studies of the winning entries of the Fenix Content Marketing Awards.


Having held various positions in his 12-year stint at the BBC, James Hewes was part of the team that sold the business to private equity in November 2011. He was then Publishing Director for Top Gear, Good Food, Easy Cook and Lonely Planet Magazine and a Director of BBC Haymarket Exhibitions.
He spent five years in Dubai, running Gulf News Publishing and responsible for more than 30 product areas. He launched the group’s first consumer brand in Arabic – wheels Arabic.
Appointed President & CEO of FIPP in September 2017, he joined from The Art Newspaper, having been Interim CEO since December 2016.

He is also a member of the Advisory Board at Dojoko, an education-focused start-up and a member of Oxford Brookes University’s Journalism Advisory Board.

The program will begin at 2pm, with a mid-afternoon break. We end the event with a panel discussion around 5pm.
