eMarketer reveals worldwide social network users forecast
Just over 71 per cent of the world’s internet users will use social networks at least once per month this year. By 2021, social network penetration will expand to 73.1 per cent worldwide.
Mobile social network usage has become increasingly common. This year, 2.01 billion people, or 81.8 per cent of the world’s social network users, will use their mobile phone to access social networking sites.
Facebook remains the world’s most popular social platform. About 1.49 billion people, or 60.8 per cent of all social network users will regularly use of Facebook in 2017.
Mobile Facebook users continue to increase and this year Nearly 87.2 per cent of all Facebook users will access the platform via a mobile phone this year.
Twitter has 260.4 million users worldwide accounting for 10.6 per cent of all social network users.
Monica Peart, senior forecasting director at eMarketer, commented: “Social networks as a whole continue to grow, increasingly resembling new internet users by accessing almost exclusively via mobile devices and gradually adding older users to their ranks.”
