The Congress brings together top media executives from around the world to network, share ideas, discuss emerging trends, showcase innovation and identify best practices in the media industry.
Previously, the FIPP World Media Congress was held every two years, but from 2020 onwards, the Congress will be an annual event, to reflect the rapid pace of change in the media.
“We’re absolutely delighted to announce two important changes to the Congress. The first of these is that the next FIPP Congress will take place in 2020 and will move to annual frequency thereafter. The rapid pace of change in our industry makes this a logical step and, after 94 years of FIPP Congresses, I think we’re ready!” said James Hewes, President and CEO, FIPP – Connecting Global Media.
“The agenda of the Congress is now incredibly diverse, as are our members’ businesses. We cover digital and print media, innovation, social, video and events, among others – all components of successful magazine media businesses today. An annual event allows us to better reflect the rapid pace of developments across all of these themes,” Hewes said.
In addition, FIPP is proud to announce the FIPP World Media Congress 2020 will be in collaboration with Distripress, the association focused on the world of digital and print distribution of newspapers and magazines.
“We are also delighted to announce that we will be partnering with Distripress for the 2020 Congress. This will see us share the venue in Estoril, with both sets of delegates enjoying access to the conference programmes of both organisations,” Hewes said. “With around 1,000 delegates expected in Portugal, the opportunities for networking will also be greater than ever, as will the opportunities to share knowledge and expertise across the industry. This is an important step for both organisations and we are pleased to have developed this innovative approach to our respective events.”

The FIPP World Media Congress 2020 will be held at the Estoril Congress Center, in Estoril, Cascais, Portugal on 15-16 September 2020, with the Opening Reception on 14 September.
Estoril, a 20-minute scenic drive from Lisbon, is a stylish beach town set on the Portuguese Riviera in the municipality of Cascais. An entertainment destination, Estoril is known for its luxury resorts, fine restaurants, golf courses, beaches and the Casino Estoril.
Estoril is an international hot spot for first-class conferences. Last year, for example, Conde Nast’s Language of Luxury conference was held at the Estoril Congress Center.

As a perk, the municipality of Cascais is supporting the FIPP World Media Congress 2020 with an offer of museum tickets and city transit tickets for Congress attendees.
Estoril allows easy access to the city of Lisbon, one of Europe’s most historic and unspoilt capitals.
