First ever joint UK & US Marie Claire cover features Alicia Keys

Following Future’s acquisition of Marie Claire US earlier this year, the UK and US versions of the publication have teamed-up to publish a joint cover for their November digital issues. Award-winning singer-songwriter, actress, producer, author, and entrepreneur, Alicia Keys, was chosen as the face of the new issue.

It’s the first time the two publications have united on a joint cover, and Andrea Thompson, Editor-in-Chief for Marie Claire UK, said that the opportunity to work in unison across the pond presented an attractive proposition: “Alicia Keys is a global icon, trailblazer and activist who resonates with Marie Claire audiences across both markets. It’s wonderful to be able to work together to spotlight such a powerful female role model.”

Sally Holmes, Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire US added: “We are excited to work with our UK counterparts to champion successful women and celebrate strong female leadership.”

As a powerful voice in the world of equality and activism, Future said that Keys was the ‘obvious choice’ to feature on the joint cover. Earlier this week, the artist appeared as the keynote speaker at the annual Marie Claire US Power Trip event – an exclusive, invite only gathering that brings together entrepreneurial women – where she told the audience

“I’ve come to a place where I’m allowing myself to feel good. There’s also a piece of ourselves that stops us from feeling good. We feel like we’re not supposed to feel good. If it’s too good something’s wrong…it’s a bunch of bullsh*t that we get taught throughout our lives.”

In the UK too, Keys is a celebrated Marie Claire icon, having previously been chosen as the face of the publication’s annual Future Shapers Awards and honoured for her lifelong activism and role in inspiring women towards success on their own terms.

More broadly, the two publications say they are united in their passion for championing female pioneers, activists and game changers, and the November issues of both have been designed to showcase and inspire female empowerment.
