Future CEO, Zillah Byng-Thorne, reportedly set to step down next year

Numerous UK outlets including Sky News report that Future CEO, Zillah Byng-Thorne, is set to depart the company in the second half of 2023. According to Sky News City Editor and  CityAM columnist, Mark Kleinman, the CEO has informed Future Chairman, Richard Huntingford of her intention to stepdown from the company within the next 18 months.

“Under her tenure, Future has become one of the most prolific London-listed acquirers of media assets, bucking the trend of a sector which has been wary of striking transformational deals in recent years,” writes Kleinman

The Guardian’s Media Business Correspondent, Mark Sweney, also covers the story, inclusive of a statement from Future

‘Future made it clear in last year’s annual report that chief executive succession planning was an ongoing focus of the board and nomination committee. Zillah Byng-Thorne, CEO, joined the business in November 2013 and is approaching nine years at the group.”

“Zillah remains committed to the business, and has not resigned; however she has informally indicated that she would like to step down by the end of 2023.”
