This will be the first permanent location in Western Europe for the GQ Bar business, following the Vogue Café Berlin, also in partnership with Patrick Hellmann, set to open later this year.
Gary Robinson, director of Condé Nast International Restaurants, commented, “GQ Bar Berlin will be a new space for the effortlessly cool crowd of Berlin to enjoy. We’ll be mixing classic food and drink with modern re-interpretations, all delivered with style and panache. The bar will offer a unique experience to the established readers of the magazine in Germany and beyond, providing a portal to a world synonymous with refined taste and cultural awareness.”
“Creating immediate and emotional experiences for our audiences is key to our brand diversification strategy. We are looking forward to offering German GQ readers and style-loving international travellers a bespoke place where they can feel welcome and at home in Germany’s capital,” added Moritz von Laffert, president of Condé Nast Germany and vice president of Condé Nast International.
GQ Bar will be located in the Patrick Hellmann Schlosshotel in Grunewald, Berlin. The historic building has interiors designed by Karl Lagerfeld, reflecting the fashion appeal of the location. The bar menu will include the signature GQ Bar Manhattan, with Woodford Reserve bourbon, Belsazar white vermouth, orange soaked barrel aged bourbon and vanilla; food will include the GQ Bar Burger – chargrilled wagyu beef, with watercress and peppercorn umami.
“GQ Bar will be one of Berlin’s most stylish bars, offering great drinks served by the city’s top bartenders” added Patrick Hellmann. “It’s exciting to work with a three-dimensional version of the leading quality men’s lifestyle magazine, and I look forward to our second venture with Condé Nast International Restaurants opening in the Patrick Hellmann Schlosshotel.”
Patrick Hellmann is a German-born designer whose eponymous fashion label, Patrick Hellmann Collection, offers menswear and womenswear, alongside a premium lifestyle, interior design and real estate business including the Schlosshotel. The brand is based in Berlin with numerous freestanding flagship stores around the world.
GQ Bar Berlin will join current operations in Dubai together with a Pop-Up GQ Bar opening today at the Rosewood London.
