Step aside, Flipboard: Apple debuts News app

The app looks strikingly similar to Flipboard, a news aggregated app that pulls in content from around the web and presents it to users in a magazine-style format. Just like Flipboard, users will be able to select topics and specific publications to follow.

Apple is also eliminating its Newsstand app, which was developed to serve as a home for all news content. The app never took off; it hid publisher apps and users could not remove it.
