Innovation ‘how to’ report gives the lowdown on chatbots
Some tech experts say chatbots and messaging apps will replace websites and apps. “They will be faster, smarter, easier to use, friendlier, more targeted, more secure, more personal, more satisfying, and more widely used than websites, apps, and social media,” writes “>John Wilpers, author of the Innovation report and senior director of Innovation Media Consulting.
“Chatbots and messaging apps will address consumers’ personal and professional needs and interests and, if a wildly popular chatbot in China and Japan (Xiaoice) is any indication, chatbots will also become readers’ ‘friends'”, according to Wilpers.
The Innovation Report will give the lowdown on what messaging apps and chatbots are, how and why they offer better engagement than the web and native apps, how to make money from them, and also why there may be editorial resistance to bots. It will also look at how to build a chatbot and how to measure its success. It will investigate successful chatbot case studies including China’s Xiaoice, the National Geographic T-Rex Chatbot, and Quartz.
The 8th annual Innovation in Magazine Media World Report delivers proven strategies and tactics for the hottest, more important areas in publishing today: mobile, monetisation, progressive vs native apps, print innovation and the overwhelming plethora of media tech (which tools do you need and how should you use them).
The Innovation World Report is written for FIPP every year by Innovation Media Consulting – a global consultancy helping publishers succeed in the digital age.
