Chart of the week: Who favours the press?

According to figures provided by Ipsos in its "Favorability Study", almost 50 per cent of Americans come out in favour of the press, which has been heavily criticised by incumbent President Donald Trump during and before taking office in January of this year.

The data also shows that there is a clear bi-partisan divide with many more democrats in favour of the press. Republicans seem to be much more sceptical. Not shown in the chart are the Independents, of which 38 per cent are net favourable and 55 per cent unfavourable.
