Jonathan Pile is appointed deputy editor of Empire magazine

Currently Executive Editor, Film and Gaming at Shortlist, Jonathan has also previously worked as Editor of Mr Hyde, Shortlist’s daily lifestyle email, news editor of the same title and Entertainment Editor of Zoo magazine from 2008 – 2010.

An award-winning journalist, Jonathan won the Games Media Award for best games coverage in a non-specialist title in 2010 and 2011 as well as picking up a Launch of the Year accolade for Mr Hyde from the Association of Online Publishers in 2013.

Jonathan joins Bauer Media in the newly created role on 25 January 2016, reporting to Editor-in-Chief Terri White.

Commenting on the appointment, Terri said: “Jonathan combines boundless enthusiasm and first-class editing skills with a true, deep love of Empire. 2016 will be the brand’s biggest year yet and he – along with the stellar team already in place – will play a massive role in some of our most wonderfully ambitious plans yet.”

Jonathan added: “Since I bought my first issue in January 1996 – issue 80, Brad Pitt was on the cover promoting Seven – I’ve dreamed of working at Empire, the world’s finest film magazine. And 20 years later, it’s actually happening. It’s been some time coming, so obviously I can’t wait to join the fabulously talented team and help add to the publication’s incredible legacy.”
