The cover tells an ‘East meets West’ story, crafted by photographer Nick Knight and Vogue Hong Kong’s Fashion Director Anya Ziourova.

Blending the local with the international is a core focus for the editorial team. Mixing art and fashion from both within Hong Kong and from across the world and major fashion capitals, packaged up into content that celebrates both existing traditions and future-looking innovations, is what readers can expect inside the first issue.

A particular highlight, according to the team, is a special photo essay collaboration with Stanley Wong, Hong Kong’s famous creative director and artist.

“Hong Kong is a vibrant city with a dynamic fashion and art scene; it has its own style and voice. We tried to create a new Vogue which could convey this distinctive voice and swirling energy,” says Karina Dobrotvorskaya, executive director editorial development at Condé Nast International.

Vogue Hong Kong launched its Instagram account, @voguehongkong, on 28 January with a series of short films starring some of the region’s most famous actresses.

“This magazine is a tribute to our beloved city, which has long embodied an international outlook anchored by Chinese tradition. Our platform is a showcase for both Hong Kong and international creative talents working together to make a publication and website that is as cosmopolitan and energetic as our home,” says Vogue Hong Kong’s editorial director Peter Wong.

Publisher Desiree Au has hopes of propelling the brand into a realm where it can bring about change.

Au remarked: “Beyond our beautiful photoshoots and insightful articles, we want Vogue to be an advocate for gender equality, diversity and empowerment, which are important to enriching the fabric of our society.”
