Media24 transfers publishing rights of two titles to former editors
Media24 Lifestyle has transferred the publishing rights to the creative living magazine Ideas/Idees and the women’s monthly Lééf to the respective former editors, the publisher announced today.
“It is wonderful news that these titles will continue to exist, and that under the leadership of two such dedicated, talented and highly experienced editors as Terena le Roux on Ideas/Idees and Christine Ferreira on Lééf (Live),” said Esmaré Weideman, CEO of Media24.
This follows the announcement in November 2016 that Media24 would cease publishing these two titles and topCar, and relinquish its international licences to Top Gear and Grazia; in line with the company’s strategy to strengthen its position as Africa’s leading digital publisher while continuing to run a highly successful print media business.
“We couldn’t wish for a better solution than Ideas/Idees and Lééf remaining part of the local magazine media landscape; they are strong and well-established niche brands with highly engaged audiences,” said Ishmet Davidson, GM of Media24 Print Media.
“The brands are in very good hands and we wish Terena and Christine and their teams every success for the future.”
Ideas/Ideas will continue as a two-monthly printed and digital magazine in Afrikaans and English, with a social media offering. The first new issue is scheduled to be on shelf in March.
“This is a great opportunity for my talented team and I to join the ranks of the creative entrepreneurs we’ve been featuring in our magazine for so many years,” Terena said.
According to Christine, Lééf’s future will be digital only, with a new website (to be launched shortly) and a social media presence for the main brand, and social media only for a spin-off bran.“We will also continue with our popular retreats and plan another tour to Israel in 2018,” Christine said. “We look forward to this new beginning for Lééf and our unique community.”
