Regina Bucco of ANER talks about the significance of bringing a FIPP Insider event to São Paulo
On 5 June, FIPP will bring its country-hopping FIPP Insider events to a city that never disappoints – São Paulo. Brazil’s culturally diverse, vibrant financial centre has a history of magazine publishing dating back to the early 19th century and is the perfect setting for South American publishers to get together, learn from one another and engage in open discussion.
FIPP Insider São Paulo – organised in partnership with Associação Nacional de Editores de Revistas (ANER) – joins a string of successful past Insider events held in cities across the world including Budapest, Helsinki, Cape Town, New York and Prague. FIPP Insiders feature local and international speakers who share their knowledge and encourage discussions on topics relevant to the industry, such as digital transformation, subscription growth and media innovation.
In the lead-up to FIPP Insider São Paulo, Raphael Crespo, Editor-in-chief at Barões Brand Publishing in Brazil, caught up with Regina Bucco, Executive Director of ANER, to find out how the much-anticipated event, taking place in FIPP’s centenary year, was put together.

How did the partnership between ANER and FIPP come about that has brought FIPP Insider to São Paulo for the first time?
The partnership emerged from a shared desire to strengthen dialogue between international markets and the Brazilian publishing sector. ANER already had a close relationship with FIPP, actively participating in global discussions on innovation, sustainability and digital transformation in the media. Hosting FIPP Insider in São Paulo for the first time, in a symbolic year marking FIPP’s 100th anniversary, not only highlights Brazil’s relevance in this global context but also reflects ANER’s ongoing efforts to position the country as a key player in shaping the future of the content industry. Our role was to coordinate the initiative, establish local partnerships and ensure the event met the interests and demands of our market.
As a jointly organised event, how are tasks and responsibilities divided between ANER and FIPP when it comes to the practical organisation of FIPP Insider São Paulo?
The organisation of FIPP Insider São Paulo truly is the result of a well-balanced collaboration between the two organisations. FIPP brings its global expertise, structures the event format and contributes with international speakers. ANER, on the other hand, takes the lead on the local side – we handle the executive production, institutional and commercial partnerships, promotion, curation of national content and logistics in São Paulo. We also serve as a bridge to our members, making sure the event addresses their specific needs. In essence, ANER adapts the FIPP Insider to the Brazilian context.
How did ANER contribute to or influence the content curation and speaker selection, especially for the Brazilian participants, to ensure the topics reflect the specific challenges and needs of the media market in Brazil?
ANER played a key role in curating the local content. We believe that for an international event to truly engage with Brazil, it must include voices from those who are immersed in the national publishing scene. That’s why we suggested speakers, themes and approaches we consider strategic for our market, based on the needs we’ve heard from our members. We prioritised speakers with hands-on experience, a forward-looking perspective, and the ability to offer practical solutions. The synergy with FIPP throughout this process was excellent, allowing the final programme to blend global trends with the Brazilian reality.
What specific impact do you hope FIPP Insider São Paulo will have in strengthening Brazil’s publishing sector?
Our main goal is to foster the exchange of experiences and broaden the strategic outlook of leaders in Brazil’s publishing sector. FIPP Insider presents a unique opportunity to learn from and listen to some of the most innovative work being done in other markets. We want ANER members to leave the event with a wider frame of reference, actionable insights, and valuable connections. By co-organising this gathering, we reaffirm ANER’s commitment to innovation, the sustainability of our sector, and building international bridges that help us tackle local challenges with better preparation and collaboration.
Are there any other ongoing initiatives for future partnerships between FIPP and ANER?
Yes, this collaboration with FIPP extends beyond the event itself. We’re already in talks to develop further joint initiatives, such as training and exchange programmes, research projects, and even partnerships to internationalise content and best practices. We believe this relationship has great potential for growth. FIPP Insider São Paulo is just the beginning of a broader agenda that ANER hopes to build with strategic international partners like FIPP.
FIPP Insider São Paulo takes place on June 5th 2025, from 8.45am – 6.30pm. Learn more and register here.
