US report reveals social media growth for magazine media brands
Instagram continues to show the most growth with 30.1 per cent quarter-over-quarter, which is nearly four times the percentage growth of the next fastest-growing network, Twitter, at 8.1 per cent. Instagram is also the only network to show share growth among the measured social media networks. While still only 4th in size out of the five social networks measured, Instagram has added nearly 50m Followers since the first day of this calendar year.
Facebook remains the largest social media network for magazine media, with approximately 50 per cent of the share of Likes/Followers, with many magazine brands making almost exclusive use of Facebook in their social media strategy. However, as other social networks grow, Facebook’s growth rate has dipped 5 percentage points, from 53.8 per cent to 48.7 per cent, since the beginning of the first quarter of the year.
Pinterest has the smallest share of Likes/Followers, 3-4 per cent over the past year, and also the slowest rate of growth of the five networks monitored, with less than 2m in growth since the first day of the calendar year.
