Burda International’s Fabrizio D’Angelo elected as new FIPP chairman
Fabrizio D’Angelo, CEO, Burda International, Germany, has been elected as the new chairman of FIPP. The chairmanship of the international magazine media association was passed to D’Angelo after David Hill, president of IDG Communications, USA, completed his two-year term. The inauguration took place at the close of the 39th FIPP World Congress in Rome, Italy, on 25 September 2013. D’Angelo is a long-standing member of the FIPP Management Board, having been appointed in February 2005.
Said D’Angelo: “Hubert Burda Media and I are glad and willing to serve FIPP during this time of transformation for the worldwide media landscape. Having been a member of FIPP from the very first day of my professional life in magazines, I am especially thankful to the FIPP Board for their choice. As Cary Grant said in his marvellous 1970 Oscar acceptance speech: “No greater honour could come to any man than the respect of his colleagues”, and so I am delighted to be taking on this role.”
Commenting on the election, FIPP president and CEO Chris Llewellyn said: “I am delighted that the new chairman of FIPP will be Fabrizio D’Angelo. He runs an important business with truly worldwide operations and so brings a fantastic breadth of knowledge and experience to his new role. He has also been a magnificent supporter of FIPP and as a long serving Board Member has been instrumental in the development of the organisation. The magazine media industry is undergoing massive change, and FIPP will need to constantly adapt too. Under Fabrizio’s guidance, I’m sure we will continue to make good decisions.”
