Chart of the week: Technological improvements will drive mobile adspend
The annual growth rate between 2015 and 2018 is predicted to be 32 per cent, primarily driven by further rapid technological improvements. In comparison, advertising on desktop devices will grow by a mere two percent a year.
Whilst in 2015 global expenditure on mobile advertising is thought to amount to US$50bn, in 2018 this will double, rising to $115bn, fast closing in on desktop’s $116bn predicted total. In 2018 mobile adspend “will then account for 49.6 per cent of internet expenditure and 18.7 per cent of all expenditure,“ ZenithOptimedia concludes.
