Piers Pickard, Lonely Planet’s managing director of publishing, said: “Sue was a much-loved colleague and friend within Lonely Planet and among our international partners. Sue was a joy to work with, always bringing great insight – along with a sense of humour – to her work and we are deeply shocked and saddened by her death. It is due to her leadership and industry knowledge that we have such an enviable portfolio of international editions of Lonely Planet Magazine.”
Sue joined Lonely Planet on maternity cover in 2010 as marketing and sales director. Making a huge impression during that time, she remained with the company, covering a number of roles in both London and Melbourne, including acting general manager, Asia trade sales and marketing director and becoming the company’s director of magazines in 2014. Under Sue’s leadership, Lonely Planet now boasts 13 magazine products around the world, with a new Italian edition of the magazine set to launch in Spring 2019.
A veteran of the magazine industry, Sue has previously held publisher and marketing roles at IPC Media, Harper Collins and The National Magazine Company.
