Chart of the week: The mobile takeover
Over the past few year, as smartphones and tablets have hit the mainstream with full force, the way people consume digital content has changed fundamentally.
In the first five months of 2015, mobile devices accounted for 38 per cent of global website traffic, up from just 2.9 per cent in 2010.
The mobilisation of internet consumption has progressed the furthest in Asia and Africa, where mobile phones are often the only option to go online due to lacking infrastructure. In the near future, more than half of the traffic on most websites will come from mobile devices and mobile optimisation will be a key requirement for anyone trying to reach an audience online.
