Mary Ann Azer appointed executive director of Australian magazine association

Magazine Publishers of Australia (MPA) has appointed Mary Ann Azer as its new executive director.
Reporting to MPA chairman, Matthew Stanton, (CEO, Bauer Media Australia – a FIPP member), Azer has a remit to leverage MPA members’ individual strengths and continue to create a greater market presence and understanding of the magazine industry.
A senior executive with 20 years’ experience in marketing, public relations, media, corporate communications, external relations and agency management at Procter & Gamble, Azer takes up the role previously held by Robin Parkes.
Stanton said: “Mary Ann’s appointment signifies the continuing commitment of the MPA to the ongoing revitalisation and promotion of the magazine publishing industry. On behalf of the executive and members, we look forward to working with Mary Ann to further enhance the groundwork that has already been laid for developing a stronger market presence of the MPA.”
Azer said: “Magazines are innovative multi-platform brands that communicate with loyal audiences across print, digital, mobile and social media. Readers have a special and trusted relationship with their favourite magazine brands and it is important for the MPA to communicate the unique benefits of these relationships to both our advertisers and consumers.
Azer began her role on 1 May.
