Meet HuffPost, Economist, Forbes, NatGeo one-on-one; talk business
This will be the 14th WMM and we already have more attendees confirmed than any WMM before. It takes place on 13 October, before the main FIPP World Congress programme on 14 and 15 October.
A platform dedicated to discussing business opportunities and deals
WMM is different from FIPP’s speaker-led events in that it provides a platform 100 per cent dedicated to bringing publishers and other executives together to meet, discuss and do international business deals.
Such deals cover a range of opportunities including licensing, syndication, JV and other partnership deals.
Prospective attendees have the option to either register for the WMM only or register for a full Congress ticket to get access to both the WMM and Congress (save £200 on the full Congress rate by booking today).
Cross-border deals; still relevant in a border-less online world
Like other parts of the media industry, the business of cross-border publishing is undergoing change in what has become a border-less online world.
This change, however, does not mean the end of international partnerships, including print, multi-platform and online only.
In respect of the latter, take HuffPost as an example. Earlier this year Chief Operating Officer Koda Wang, who will be at WMM and will also speak at the FIPP Congress, told Digiday why – even if its markets where English is a dominant media language – internationalisation is not as easy as simply organically expanding into the new market.
Speaking of HuffPost partnering with local media in new markets, he said, “We think that together we can do something bigger than either of us can do alone. We take our technology platform and content and digital savvy and combine with partners’ expertise and commercial capabilities. The goal is always to create something distinct in the market that’s still in-sync with our brand.”
