Rebecca Holman is appointed editor of Bauer Media’s The Debrief

Since its launch in February 2014, The Debrief has been recognised with a number of prestigious media industry awards. In 2014 the team won Consumer Innovation of the Year at the PPA Digital Awards, earlier this year Sophie Wilkinson picked up Best Digital Writer at the BSME Rising Star Awards and in May, The Debrief collected Content Team of the Year at the British Media Awards, a ceremony dedicated to highlighting innovation and excellence across the media industry. Judges praised the team for their ‘clear focus on delivering targeted engaging content to its audience in a form and schedule appropriate to them’. Earlier this month The Debrief was selected as one of the ‘slickest new feminist websites‘ by the Evening Standard’s ES Magazine.

Developing innovative native advertising solutions The Debrief has created successful commercial partnerships with likeminded and potent brands such as Boots, Levi’s, Clinique, Bacardi and Netflix.

Rebecca joined The Debrief as Deputy Editor and was an integral member of the brand’s launch team, she has been Acting Editor since December 2014.

Prior to joining Bauer Media Rebecca gained over a decade’s experience in women’s consumer publishing. Beginning her career on the award-winning asos.com magazine, Rebecca then went on to edit handbag.com and launch xoJane.co.uk with American media legend Jane Pratt, and, until recently, wrote a weekly column about sex, dating and single life for Telegraph Wonder Women.

Commenting on the appointment, Lauren Holleyoake, Publisher of The Debrief, said : “I’m delighted that Rebecca will continue to build on the success of The Debrief in her new position as Editor. She has shown passion for the brand since launch and demonstrates a deep and consistent understanding of its 20-something audience. Having led the incredibly talented team over the past year Rebecca has already delivered transformational month on month growth for the brand and I’m excited to see her develop that even further.”

Rebecca added:“I’m so thrilled to be taking over as the helm on The Debrief – it’s a fantastic brand that speaks to young women in their 20s like no other – and I care passionately about it. With a fantastic team behind me and an ever-growing readership of vocal, enthusiastic and intelligent young women to create smart and compelling content for, I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store.”

Rebecca replaces Hattie Brett who left The Debrief earlier this month to join The Daily Telegraph. She will take up the position with immediate effect, reporting to Publisher, Lauren Holleyoake.

Culture Editor Jess Commons has been promoted to the position of Deputy Editor.
