eMarketer publishes forecasts on time spent with media in Germany
The growth in digital time is being driven by social media, messaging and video. eMarketer expects future increases in time spent with digital media to come entirely from mobile devices, as apps such as Facebook and WhatsApp continue to drive up mobile use.
Concerning TV, adults in Germany will spend 3 hours 43 minutes per day watching TV this year. eMarketer has slightly increased its estimates for time spent with TV thanks to the upcoming federal elections in September 2017 and the 2018 World Cup, both of which will help prevent TV minutes from decreasing.
Also, in 2017, adults in Germany will spend 1 hour 56 minutes per day listening to radio .
Adults in Germany are expected to spend an average of 38 minutes a day with print media (including newspapers and magazines) this year.
Chris Bendtsen, senior forecasting analyst, commented: “The growth in time spent with digital media over the next few years among adults in Germany will come entirely from mobile devices, as mobile video and apps such as Facebook and WhatsApp continue to be drivers. Minutes with traditional media will fall only slightly over the forecast, so we expect multitasking on social and messaging with traditional media to increase significantly.”
